Girona popular with overseas buyers
Demand from French, Scandinavian, English and Russian buyers interested in buying property in certain areas of Girona, Spain increased in 2011 compared to the previous year, a new study has found.
The data provided by the Spanish Valuation Society, and highlighted by PGA Catalunya Resort, revealed that the increase in the number of overseas buyers looking to buy real estate in Girona has helped the region's prices to remain relatively stable compared to other areas in Spain.
PGA Catalunya Resort said Girona was attractive for buyers because it is close to the sea, has a warm climate and a good variety of leisure facilities.
Mark Stucklin, head of Spanish Property Insight, also encouraged buyers to look for properties in Spain, a country ideally suited for holiday rentals.
He said it is currently "a buyer's market" in the southern European country, especially in "consolidated areas that are well-established with a good range of amenities and services".
