UK Domestic Cheque Guarantee Card Scheme to close on 30th June 2011

As a valued customer of Raphaels Bank please take note that the UK Domestic Cheque Guarantee Card Scheme will close on 30th June 2011. This means that after this date it will no longer be possible to guarantee a cheque up to a specified limit by handing over a plastic card carrying Shakespeare’s logo - the Scheme identifier. Accordingly if you receive a cheque from one of your customers or any third party it cannot be guaranteed under the Scheme after this date.

Notwithstanding the Scheme’s closure it is of course still permitted  to write and accept cheques after this date, but you can only do so without reliance on the Scheme.

You should also note that the Scheme’s closure has no bearing on the Payments Council’s longer-term project to set a target date of 2018 to close the central cheque clearing.

In today's increasingly impersonal world, we believe that customers should still be able to enjoy a high level of personal service tailored to their individual needs.

To ensure we deliver this, we adhere to the principles upon which our business has been built over our long and distinguished history, whilst embracing modern technology and innovation.

Raphaels is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) requiring us to maintain the highest standards of probity and integrity.

Based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and still fully independent, we provide a bespoke range of niche products and services to our discerning customers.

Opening an Account

At Raphaels we pride ourselves on our efficient service. To enable us to offer this high standard of care, we have certain criteria for opening a current account that we will be pleased to discuss at our initial meeting.

Typically we require a minimum income of £25,000 per annum and net assets of £200,000. We do, however, consider each application on its own merits and like to encourage local businesses and non-profit organisations.

The terms of Our Relationship have been changed  to comply with the requirements of the Payment Services Regulations 2009 and to meet the new standards established by the Financial Services Authority for a bankers’ conduct of business towards its customers both of which became effective as of 1st November 2009. We have also made some other changes to these terms and conditions to clarify Our Relationship and which have been made for your benefit. These terms and conditions are applicable to all our customers whether personal, joint or several or whether a company, partnership, charity, club or association or other legal or corporate entity.
